In 2008, students at Hiroshima Jogakuin Junior and Senior High School, Eishin Junior and Senior High School in Fukuyama, and Okinawa Shogaku High School started to conduct "Abolish nuclear weapons! A signature-collecting campaign by Hiroshima junior and senior high school students" to help with "CANT: Cities Are Not Targets" project of the 2020 Vision (Emergency Campaign to Ban Nuclear Weapons), organized by Mayors for Peace. Since then, we have been collecting signatures. The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was adopted in 2017. It entered into force in 2021. We will continue this campaign to lead toward the total elimination of nuclear weapons. We appreciate your continued cooperation.
